Welcome to Civil Engineering Research in Ireland 2016 (CERI2016) 

The Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland (CERAI) invite you to the Civil Engineering Research in Ireland 2016 (CERI2016) conference to be hosted by the National University of Ireland Galway in Galway, on the West coast of Ireland during 29-30 August, 2016.

114 full peer-reviewed papers have been accepted for the conference, as well as 5 keynote papers. These papers are from a broad range of topics in Civil Engineering, including:

  • Bridge Engineering;
  • Concrete Technology;
  • Geotechnical Engineering;
  • Environmental Engineering;
  • Pedagogy in Civil Engineering;
  • Structural Engineering;
  • Timber;
  • Other Civil Engineering Materials and Technologies.

Keynote Speakers

In addition to the papers in the strands listed above, keynote speakers will address plenary sessions over the two days. The keynotes are:

  • Third Joe O'Donovan Memorial Lecture by Prof Enzo Siviero, Principal at Implementation Projects Studio Associato in Italy . 
  •  'Multi-performance retrofits to existing buildings: increasing resiliency and reducing the environmental impact of buildings through simultaneous structural and energy retrofits', Prof Corey Griffin, Associate Professor, School of Architecture at Portland State University, USA.  
  •  'Massive timber - the emergence of a modern construction material', Dr Annette Harte, Senior Lecturer, National University of Ireland, Galway.
  • Performance Monitoring for Sustainable Concrete Infrastructure, Prof W. JohnMcCarter, BSc (Hons), PhD, DSc, CEng, MICE, School of the Energy, Geoscience, Infrastructure and Society at Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland
  • 'The Evolving Role of Materials in Infrastructure Systems',  Prof David Frost, B.A., B.A.I., MSCE, Ph.D., P.E., P.Eng., F.ASCE, Elizabeth and Bill Higginbotham Professor of Civil Engineering, Center for Bio-mediated and Bio-inspired Geotechnics, Georgia Institute of Technology, USA.
