Civil Engineering Research in Ireland CERI 2018 organised by Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland (CERAI) and Irish Transportation Research Network (ITRN)

The Civil Engineering Research Ireland (CERI) conference has grown initially from Concrete Research Ireland (CRI) and Bridge Research Ireland (BRI) symposiums, which subsequently held joint symposiums that became Bridge and Concrete Research Ireland (BCRI). Over the years, the themes of the conference broadened significantly, attracting submission from the titular areas, as well as from other areas in civil engineering. The research needs broadened over time, and the range of submission widened correspondingly. The Organising Committee of BCRI 2012 recommended re-naming the conference series to Civil Engineering Research in Ireland (CERI). The first CERI conference was held in Queens University Belfast. CERI2016 in Galway was a success and showcased the ongoing wide and multidisciplinary research in Civil Engineering in Ireland. CERI 2018 intends to build on this success and the history of this conference by bringing it over to UCD, Dublin. We think that CERI 2018 will be an ideal location for academics and engineers alike to discuss and contribute to the future of Civil Engineering Research in Ireland. Additionally, it gives me great pleasure to inform you that Irish Transportation Research Network (ITRN) has decided to concurrently hold its annual conference with CERI2018. This will strengthen this conference and we hope to see Transportation as a key theme in 2018.

On behalf of the organising committee, I look forward to welcoming you in University College  Dublin in August 2018.

Dr. Vikram Pakrashi

Chairperson, Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland
